Dr Makary is a super genius when it comes to common sense. It’s so great that someone like him is finally FDA commissioner. Politics and monied interests have displaced medical science for far too long. A welcome change and a great interview.

Double Friedberg week let’s goooo

I am a cancer free human due to CAR-T. I have had non-Hodgkins for a number of years and for the past 4 years it recurred. Going through Chemo, infusions and trial experimental pills, it maintained the size of the tumor but it was still there. I was given the opportunity for CAR-T therapy and opted for it. It was not the easiest treatment but after my T-cells were infused back into my body, within 6 weeks and a total Petscan, I am cancer free!!!! My numbers are good and I am so Thankful for the Dr's, Researchers and medical personnel who brought this technology into existence. Great interview. I have followed Dr Makary for the last few years. Thankfully he's a part of this administration.

Covid clearly showed who was brilliant and who was dumb amongst our friends. Silver lining in the cloud.

This is one of the most encouraging, uplifting videos on YouTube. As a Stage IVB cancer survivor, I am astonished at how little conversation there has been about the preventative steps that matter most: avoiding sugar, close connections, food as medicine, and exercise. I am so grateful to see real, national leadership in the most important areas in our lives: what we put in our bodies and how we treat them. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

He’s good. The FDA was a major headache during my time in pharma/biotech doing development work. While we all support safety and efficacy, the inflexible regulatory system at the agency created a significant obstacle. It’s accurate to say that the high cost of drug development is largely driven by these regulations.

I can't wait for FDA and USDA to tackle our myriad of dirty, poisonous foods (from spices to coffee to meat and beyond). It's nearly impossible to "eat clean" in this country. Great interviews from the besties this month!

This was THE most informative conversation I love the way we are moving through this administration and helping people. I think we have to acknowledge that there is a group of people that will never embrace it and that's going to have to be OK. Im 60 and living with insulin resistance. Modern medicine at Kaiser in Ca wanted me to eat 3x a day and eat carbs- put me on metfirmin and insulin and and statins just say oh well I have bad genes I listened to doctors on utube and rejected standard medicine. Over 15 months of glucose monitoring with meat and fat in my diet and I Feel Anazing! Its hard at first but no sugar / carbs is a game changer and actually cheaper

This is beautiful. I was at a DPC medical conference where Marty was our key note speaker several years ago. He gets it. Direct Primary Care is part of the change and disruption that healthcare needs.

I never thought I’d hear someone in government saying so many reasonable things about science, nutrition, and environmental factors when it comes to human health! How do we get more of this???

I'd like to add, because I'm a proud mom, my son age 30 just got his PhD in Integrated Biomedical Sciences-Biochemical Mechanisms in Medicine Discipline from UT Health San Antonio. His Dissertation Defense was on "Investigating the Role of Senescence Escape in Glioblastoma Tumor Recurrence." It's way over my head, but as a parent I'm so proud. He's starting his career with a Temp/Guest Lecturer position at UTTyler (hometown) for the Spring Semester. Basically he's teaching Biology to Freshmen.

As a physician I can’t begin to tell you how important this work is. I cared for Covid pts in the hospital wards and ICU with so much death and dying…and was astounded when it became political. So great to see him bringing back sanity and logic based on legit science

Him and Dr. Prasad are amazing. They truly try to be guided by science and open debate. IMO, that’s why they are attacked so much. The corruption from career bureaucrats, academia, and politicians is too strong. It’s a self serving system that gives awards, jobs, grants, prestige, promotions to those that push agendas and powerful interest groups. Hopefully these leaders have the opportunity to bring true science back and foster real health promoting actions… at least for some time, until the corrupt ones return…

This podcast should be part of everyones educational curriculum be it in science/medicine, IT, statistics, history, or governmental affairs. All students should be asked to pick three or four points/ideas from this discussion and report back to class prepared to discuss and debate their findings in an open setting. I bet you would have some spirited discussion and a constructive exchange of ideas beyond the classroom setting. Dr Makary, thank you for your public service, leadership writhing the FDA and willingness to address mistakes that have been made in the past.

Research on causes, hearing the FDA speaking out loud about inflammation and insuline resistancy being the leading factor on developing most of chronic diseases. AMAZING. Great questions, David. I think one thing we can do as a society to look after our youth better is to get 1 parent back in the household to help support health, emotional and intellectual development. I think it is critical that we do that for the health of our working class.

David, you are amazing. I don't understand half of what you're talking about, I'm just glad there's someone asking the questions. My favorite line from the doctor is, " What are we waiting for?". I now feel there is a sense of urgency that was never present in the FDA before. Move fast and break things.
